Card Review: Darkness Neosphere – SJ November 2009

For those of you who are wondering, I’ve decided to split the promo card review from the issue review. Since it seems that it’s one of the things people want to see the most.

Anyway, today’s card is Darkness Neosphere, the next on the line of Shonen Jump’s trend of Fiend type Promos. While dragons seem to be getting shoved into subscription bonuses.

First off, this is a freakishly awesome card. Probably one to start killing the metagame Yu-Gi-Oh has got going on. Or just make fiends more badass. This card is probably going to be the next promo to get hit with a ban or limit. It’s easy to summon, especially in decks focusing on fiend tokens and Gorz. This monster has an ass-kicking 4000 ATK and DEF, making it the best card to use in a pinch for a fiend deck. Not really anything else to say other than the fact that this card is an amazing addition to any fiend deck or anti-tournament deck.

Back from FanExpo

A little late on the notice, but I am back from FanExpo. Sadly I couldn’t find many to play Jump Ultimate Stars with, there wasn’t much coming from the anime department there. Gaming however was quite full of life, it was interesting seeing so many things going on. Anyway, not much to report on from there other than some game dealers were freakishly overpriced.

FHD JUS Guide – Slam Dunk Started

FHD has added a new section to his Jump Ultimate Stars Character Guide featuring the Slam Dunk characters. JoJo’s Bizarre Adventures is almost complete as well, check out his site on the resource site list.

Shonen Jump October 2009 Overview

Special notes about this issue:
- Bleach Special Chapter: Toshiro’s Tale
- Naruto Shippuden Promo Card: Kakashi Hatake

Alright, so first off this is the newest issue of Shonen Jump (dur.) and I have to say it was a pretty interesting one, now let’s get to the manga overviews first shall we?

Bleach: Toshiro’s Tale
- In this chapter we get a short special about how Toshiro met Matsumouto, best part about this was the boob-slam he got in his face upon meeting her. Overall it’s a slightly sad story since he has to leave his entire family, but other than that, it wasn’t really much of a chapter, the boob-slam was the only funny thing in there that’s memorable.

Naruto Shippuden
- Hinata is being healed by Sakura while Naruto fights Pain. The battle ends in Pain’s defeat, and his last few words stuck in Naruto’s head. With some afterthought, Naruto decides to search out Nagato, and thus, is told Nagato’s past.

One Piece
- The war on Alabasta is over, peace is being restored, however the marines are now after the Straw Hat Crew. Surrounding as much as they can of Alabasta, their only hope is to partner up with Bon Clay. Also, great read for amusing nosebleeding action.

Karakuridoji Ultimo
- Yamato begins to have nightmares which are visions of his past life with Ultimo, revealing that there are thousands of Karakuridoji out there, and that in the 21st century; they will all gather to fight. However, due to recent problems with Ultimo, Yamato gets into an argument with Ultimo making him cry and flee. The next morning he finds a gourmet well-done breakfast waiting for him, prepared by Ultimo. Just as he goes to search for Ultimo, Jealousy comes in hunting for Ultimo as well. Leaving it to end with Jealousy’s owner offering Yamato over one hundred million dollars for Ultimo.

YuYu Hakasho
- The tournament begins, and while some people easily lose their matches to a pretty face, Yuusuke and Yomi are facing off against one-another in an all out fight.

Tegami Bachi
- Lag is now on route to the Bee Hive, meeting up with more contenders to become a Letter Bee. The Bee Hive leader is… Llyod Largo, the man who was searching for Niche before. After a minor confrontation the other new Letter Bees arrive and a small fight breaks out between their Dingos. Ending with Niche’s apparent liking for things with tails, she takes one of the Dingo’s mace-tails during the fight.

Bleach
- Renji and Uryu are going through Hueco Mundo along with Nel’s little family. During this time Uryu and Pesche run into a battle with Cirucci. As always, Bleach manages to add Comedy to the most serious of situations.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters GX
- Jaden and Chazz’s match continues, pretty much I can’t really summarize this seeing as they seem to have hired that shoddy translator again, seriously Viz, fire him/her already.

Now what can I say about this promo? It’s pretty good considering for once, it’s the first Shippuden card that lacks any noticable print errors (Examples include the over-printed Naruto and the flavour text slided Sakura). It’s also in the style of the new Promo Cards making it very nice to look at. Not only that, it’s got a great effect for those of you who enjoy Sharingan and Uchiha based decks.
